I have been adding relatives of relatives and was unchecking the Public Box for some of them only to discover that Geni ignores my unchecking or rechecks the Public Box.
It seems to me that it is just as important to make your relatives of relatives Private as it is your own relatives.
I wish all my profiles to be made private. Please allow this option. It´s very important.
Our family is worried about the publication of the family relationships on Google.
We need to keep this info private.
Otherwise, we'll proceed to delete the whole info at Geni.
Please, we need an immediate answer to this concern.

I would also prefer my entire tree to be made private. public profiles make my tre vulnerable to others that add to my trre. i normally would not have a problem with this but i have grown annoyed of this several times. i would very much like to be the person to add to my tree. Please Geni team, fix this issue.
I would have all profiles for users not marked as deceased born in 1900 or later to be marked as private as default, regardless of how distant I create them.
This to comply with various privacy laws in different countries.
Including more than name and connection to the tree may violate privacy laws. The workaround for now is to manually select each profile and de-select public in the profile... This slows down any mass registering into the system!
My sister wants me to delete all of her family information because it is showing up on Google searches. What can I do to ensure her family's privacy without deleting her section of the tree?
Rachelle - make sure you are logged out of Geni when checking to see if the Profiles show up on Google Search. If they are private unclaimed profiles, they should not show up on Google if you are logged out. If they are claimed Profiles, they will show up, unless the User goes into his/her Account Settings- Permissions - and unchecks "Let the public search for me" (and clicks Save Changes). This last also assures greater privacy for any unclaimed private Profiles that User manages as well - so if you manage most of the profiles, you may want to make sure you have unchecked it.
