Geni will be the best genealogy site with a worldwide common tree with one profile for one person, and we all are doing everything to achieve that.
Unfortunately is the presentation of the tree not so clear as the presentation is on the very small genealogy site Rodovid.org, which wiki site has the best tree view there is on this moment.
I want to have that tree view also on Geni !
The referenced tree view (more accurately, a forest) is quite nice ... and a compact overview ... but I would want more viewing options (such as hiding/showing siblings in each generation), and perhaps even adding an option of viewing multiple marriages (on either side of the 'reference' person). There also needs to be a bit more of a "help" or "guide" as to the subtleties of the notation/colors/lines.
Moreover, I'd just want it to be one of a number of viewing choices; Geni currently has two (vertical and horizontal tree); the "Gramps" software has a number of other nice varieties of display as well (such as a "fan").

Personally, I like the way Geni displays the tree as it is. However there is a problem seems like since their crash this summer and that is there is no place to enter death dates. If you look at the people who were entered earlier than this summer there is a place for the date of death and place. But I have been trying everything to get the date of death entered and there is no place for this. I have contacted Geni but no response yet.

Linda ... I have no problems, with either new or old profiles.
With an existing profile, you should be able to "Edit Profile" and then scroll down (if not already viewable) to enter the death date.
However, if the person is marked as "Living" (where the email address can be entered...), you have to first click the option to make them deceased.
The same thing is true when adding a profile ... if you see the option to enter the email address and no death date, click the radio button to make the profile "deceased", and then you should be able to enter the death information.

Thank you for the info. I was able to enter my dad's date of death and other death info. However for my cousin this is all I see in her profile. There is no place to uncheck "living" in order to enter the other info. Any suggestions?

Did you add the email and invite your cousin to join Geni.com? It does not appear they ever actually 'joined'. Can you remove the email? I think that once an email is entered the profile is "claimed" and other users cannot make them deceased. If you can't remove the email, then you'll have to put in a help request to get it taken care of (see the little row of links at the bottom of the profile page to get to the 'help' system).
