Add vanity URLs as a feature for Geni Pro users. Example: http://www.geni.com/ashleyodell instead of http://www.geni.com/people/Ashley-Odell/346394066470007260
Borrowing the Facebook system, users could select their customized vanity URL and be limited to one change per account lifetime. If a user lets their Pro account lapse, that vanity URL would remain reserved for that user should they renew again.
Vanity URLs would keep the site user-friendly, easier to promote via word-of-mouth, and also is an extra incentive to register for Pro. The addresses could, of course, be forwards if that would be easier from a tech perspective.
