Too many profiles exist of the same person, simply with minor differences. One main difference is the name, in most cases as it regards married women. Profiles of the same person sometimes use just the married name, others married and maiden (some married name first, then maiden ... then others maiden name first then married name). It becomes very confusing to say the least.
Perhaps it would be helpful for Geni users to be forced to separate these names with fields destined for each of these variations. In other words, the system would not automatically allow the spouse to have the same last names, the user would be forced to type in the maiden name as standard for the last name. Of course, should the married pair both have the same last name, then the user can accept this explicitly.
