Partial gedcom exports?

My "ancestors" tree unpacks to 79megabytes (ot was it blood relatives?). That's huge!

I'd like some options, like:

(1) export the stuff I'm listed as a manager on, or (if it's easier) only follow relationships out of a person if I'm a manager on the new person too.

(2) only go out N steps from me (like 10 or 12).

I've got some programming skills, so I think I'll be able to write a program to take the huge tree and do the "only N steps away" myself. But it looks like "manager" isn't part of the gedcom export, so I won't be able to do that.

Any ideas?

  Me, too! I've had to download several 79-95 MB GEDCOMS recently just to get a few generations of ancestors. A configurable limit would save everybody time and it would save Geni resources.

  I can make a list of who I'm manage, or I can make a list of people who I have created, but i can't export exacly thise profiles. it is really great annoyance that you can not exporterer one GEDCOM list based on these criteria

  I would like to go back a specific number of generations and yes I put in that suggestion :)

  My problem is similar but a little different. I was able to connect with a cousin in Slovenian - he has a massive amount of my ancestral tree that will add hundreds of ancestors to my tree. So, I joined geni.com to link his tree to mine. Because geni.com does not have auto synch features with desktop software, I need to prune my tree at my grandmother and capture all her ancestors from his tree. They say it's easy, but the instructions are poor and the website is not intuitive from that perspective. I will spend another hour or two finding the proper help instructions. Of course, ROOTS MAGIC has the best auto synching for websites - IT WOULD BE GREAT FOR THEM TO AUTO SYNCH with Geni.com --- a two-way negotiation...
