would it be possible to implement a checkbox , or a drop-down menu etc. or somekind of entry indicating if the date (birth, death, marriage etc) is according to the Julian calendar? Even better would be if there was an option that would automatically convert it in to the modern Gregorian calendar. But for starters a simpler clarification option would do if any given date is according to anything else than Gregorian . Fo example Family Tree Builder has 3 calender options.

I don't understand your request.
There is no conversion between them, simply because Gregorian, Julian and Roman calendars is calendars used for different time periods and they replaced each others as a correction if the one that got replaced.
Mathematically you can convert between them, but why should you?
The only challenge might be that it may be differences when people adopted the new calendar.

the problem is that different countries changed from Julian to Gregorian calendar in different times. For example in the former Russian empire it happened only after the revolution in 1917. This would include modern countries like Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania etc. meaning all church records dating prior 1917, the dates are in Julian calendar, after 1917 in Gregorian. Meaning, people entering pre 1917 dates according to the church records would always need to add 13 days in order to get the dates right according to the modern Gregorian calendar.
I understand this is a very regional thing, but then again, there are other people out there who might need options for different calendars to keep it in sync with the records, like Jewish Calendar, there’s also the French Republican Calendar, etc.
So it would be good if there was an option, a check-box or something that would clarify if any given date is according to anything else that the modern Gregorian calendar.

I understand and support your request to be able to tag a date with a marker telling which calendar that was used,- based on the rule that sources should be cited as they are and a converting to modern western calendar can just be informative. It was the automatic part I disliked,- except if it could be an additional display of the date. Unless you have a specific calendar marker you should not assume any calendar based on the year entered and offer a tool to convert it, because as you said yourself: It also depends where and when.

PS. In Scandinavia and some German states the Gregorian calendar was adopted only in 1700. Since the church records in Scandinavia go way back before 1700, it seems having an option to tag dates according to those records is also relevant here. In Estonia the Gregorian calendar was adopted in 1917-1918. My grandparents have their birth dates written according to the Julian calendar in their birt certificates, but when they celebrated their birthday, it was a different date (13 days later) and often even a different month according to the Gregorian calendar. This is a significant problem that Geni only accepts dates according to the Gregorian calendar, because it means that most of the dates in Geni do not match with the same dates in church records.
Since my family is from Estonia, all the church records before 1918 are in the Julian calendar. But later my father and mother celebrated their birthdays by the Gregorian calendar (13 days later). So which dates should I record in their profiles ?
This problem is still actual in every Latvian familytree as in birth record there are one data but after reform - in passport - another - so it is necessary to register both data.

Since my family is also from Estonia, all church records before February 14, 1918 are according to the Julian calendar.
1) Later, when the officials have added days (+12 before 1900 and +13 since 1900), mistakes have happened: different documents of the same person have different dates.
For example, according to the father's passport, the girl was born on September 18, 1900. According to Gregorius, in one of the later documents, it is September 30, in another, October 1. I would put the date of birth according to the Julian calendar in the gen.
2) The problem is also that dates from the original sources (church books) are used in the gen, because they are the most accurate (because there are no addition errors yet). So you don't know what calendar has been added to the gen.
I would really appreciate it if there was an option, a check mark, or something to clarify if a date is according to something other than the modern Gregorian calendar.
