Issue with parents and children

Let's see this scenario.

There are three children - 1, 2 ,3. If I add 1 & 2 as children under the father's name and the 3rd one under mother, Geni shows 3 as the step brother/sister of 1&2 and the father as Step Father.

I hope you get it. I understand that there are situations when this can be true, but there should also  be an option where you can specify/select the mother. Or an option to specify that a man had only one wife. :) What is currently being done by the system is not completely correct.

I did not know this issue earlier and had added the family the same way, half to my grandfather and rest to my grandmother. It was really embarrassing when I shared with my family and people were shown as step-brothers and step-sisters. :(

Please resolve this issue.

  Take a closer look the next time you edit a profile. In the Relationships tab you will for example see that Parents is a pull-down menu where you easily can change the parents of a profile from a slection of the closest family. If the pair you are looking for are missing or you want to change into a single parent you might have to add a temporary spouse to the person you want to be listed as a single parent.

  In the same Relationships tab you will also have the option to cut bad connections to parents and spouses, but be careful, - if the reason is duplicate parents you should always merge them if they just are duplicates.

  See http://help.geni.com/entries/20824228-list-siblings-with-different-parents?page=1#post_20825768 - Clearly Geni is failing to Program this so Folks consistently get what they want /expect.  Perhaps Geni should jump in with a question / choice rather than programming what is often a wrong conclusion.

  I know several of my relatives, sometimes after months or longer on Geni finally added folks - then gave up doing anything after Geni failed to show siblings as full siblings.  Seems they were easily intimidated, made to feel incompetent, and went back to not doing any entry.  This is not good.  (Tho somewhat moot now, since Geni apparently does not want Basic users adding profiles.)

  Think it is also a change - tho no idea how recent.  Did not have any problem for my first several hundred profiles.  Then more recently, saw Geni had made half-siblings of folks I entered who were full siblings.  I noticed and changed.  Others probably either did not notice, or did not know how to fix - hurting the accuracy of info, etc.
