At the moment the relationship path stucks in the first path (between two persons) it has found which is sometimes really confusing. For example: Let's say my third cousin is married to someone who then later also appears to be related to me - i.e. we have common ancestors so the only link between us isn't the marriage of him / her and my third cousin.
Yet the relationship path keeps telling me we are not related by blood but by his / hers spouse.
Could it be possible to have some kind of a "recalculate button" and / or view of several possible relationship paths when there is more than one path between two persons?

Bjørn P. Brox Take a closer look the next time: If the calculated path is older than a week you will find a double arrow in a circle (like a recycle icon) after the path.
The hoover text tells the date the path was calculated and clicking it recalculates the path. I am not sure if this is a Pro feature only.
You can also train Geni showing the path not yet calculated by "walking the path".
When you go from one profile to another by clicking on a name in the profile view you will see a ?through=xxxx parameter in the URL. This tells Geni that the path calculation from the starting point, usually you unless you are using the green pushpin to define another starting point, should go through the profile xxxx (which is the profile ID). By continuing opening a profile one by one in the path Geni will register that new path. If you have inaccessible private profiles in between you can manually jump a few speps by manually constructing such an URL with a ?through=xxxx where xxx points to the neares accessible point in the path you want to train Geni to use.

Bjørn P. Brox This is the symbol by the way: http://www.geni.com/images/icn_refresh.gif

Stephanie LAKEY PARKER Thank you SO much! I just did the walking the path thing and it worked perfectly!

Dag Lukkassen Thanks a lot for discussing this interesing question. I am trying to manually construct the URL with adding the ?through=xxxx, but I am obviously doing something wrong since it does not work. Geni seems to ignore whatever value xxxx I am using. Here is an example: Geni calculates the relationship path between my sister and my friend Geir as follows: http://www.geni.com/path/Geir+Frantzen+is+related+to+Hilde+Lukkassen?from=6000000015518086761&to=6000000015494557060
but chooses a different path between me and my friend Geir:I want to send him the link showing that we are blood relatives. Could you help me to find it? -
Peter John Anson I have the same issue. A 2nd cousin's wife turned out to be a different 2nd cousin (on a different path). Now my 4th great grandmother is my 2nd cousin's wife's great aunt. This is even after walking the path

Sade Toivo Ilmari Kondelin I would very much like a feature that would allow to choose between "the least amount of people between me and X" and "the closest to a direct family relation" relationship paths. I think both are potentially important things to find out, but I'm especially irritated by not being able to use the search to trace a possible blood relation to someone, as the algorithm only goes for the shortest link.

Dag Lukkassen Its is more likely that the algorithm is to find "some link". To me it the process seems completely random.

Sandra Jane Larson Yeah, but if you walk the path sometimes when you get to that royal figure you are going for, it drops the path and then recalculates the royal figure to the first path you had and all that work is gone. I've found walking up to the figure that just is stuck in the path, royal or not, but not including him or her as "father", "mother" works. It just is a most frustrating feature. Hopefully a more sophisticated system will come along shortly as once you get back a number of generations there are multiple paths via multiple ancestors and Geni doesn't want to recognize that. I appreciate that it is difficult, but soon it should be rectified I would hope.
