I love the Geni service, and I think it would function even better if users had the option to appoint a Manager to a "claimed" profile. There are many cases where a person claims a profile but then does not attend to it. There are almost an infinite number of scenerios that can be offered as examples of the need for this option.
A person might get an "Invite" and sign-in, 'claim' and briefly look at their profile, but do little or nothing to maintain it. Perhaps if claimed profiles are inactive for a certain period of time the creator of the tree (and/or a Pro manager?) could request permission to manage that profile.
The inactive person/profile might be your favorite grandma, a close relative or a distant one, but nevertheless, obviously when profiles become inactive that branch might stop or have stunted growth of information. The person in question might not be interested in genealogy, think it's not private enough, become sick or otherwise incapacitated, or not participate for a host of other reasons.
We need a way to allow another person to take over or 're-claim' an inactive profile, otherwise we are creating many profiles that can never be developed any further. In terms of the entire Geni site, that undoubtedly has a huge effect on the veracity and effectiveness of the site in general.
Thanks for your consideration of this important issue and potential feature option,
Curtis
