Impossible to send a birthday greeting

Hello,

 

When clicking on 'Send a birthday greeting or gift' in the e-mail reminder I get your ad to convince me to become a Geni-Plus member.  I don't want that, but after clicking on 'No Thanks, Continue »' I'm not arriving on the requested page where I can enter my birthday message, but at the profile.  Even clicking on 'Stuur een verjaardagsgroet of cadeau' (Dutch for 'Send a birthday greeting or gift') doesn't help as it starts again from the beginning.

 

Please fix this annoying bug.

  A month or so ago I tried to send a birthday greet or gift and was successful. Today the same thing happened to me that happened to Mark.

  Yes, I have tried countless times to send Bday notices in the last 2 days - a Geni Pro ad pops up & it won't let me continue- I am missing out on upcoming birthdays & anniversaries - please fix the problem ASAP - thanx Patricia

  I've also experienced this problem. To Geni staff, I say: If you no longer want to allow us to send birthday notices unless we have a Geni Plus account, just so so; Otherwise, fix this very annoying bug.

  I am tired of the Geni-Plus coming up every time I try to send a b-day gift as well!!!!  S

  I am having the exact same problem as the others, and feel very sad about it.  i cannot send the birthday greeting.  I have paid for birthday and anniversary, etc. gifts and I want to use them but cannot!!!!  Also I am tired of being directed to your ad for Geni-Pro when I want to send a birthday greeting.

  Your website used to be so wonderful--now it is a chaotic mess.

  I hope someone in Geni who can fix this mess reads these comments, and I hope they are not just spinning out into cyberspace.

  One other thing that is a mess. The system used to hold your greeting until the actual birthday or anniversay, now it just sends it off on the day you do no matter how early it is.  This sucks and is very much a problem and NO I do not want to pay you $5 a month for the pay version.

  The birthday greeting will not come up ; just the send money thing keeeps coming up?

  Apparently the problem has been fixed, as I was able to send some scheduled birthday and anniversary messages this morning.  I hope Geni has learned from this.

  When is this bug going to be fixed? It's been several days since the community has reported it to you and nothing's been done yet as far as I can tell. This is ridiculous. I need to send a birthday gift and greeting and cannot get it out until you fix this. And we're all tired of reading the ad for the premium service. Please get rid of it!! Thank you!!

  As I understand...if we DO NOT subscribe to Geni Pro...we cannot use the birthday greeting service any longer. The reason for this is I have grown my family tree to 5 generations...and GENI is now limiting the size of our family tree to 4 levels. I was terribly shocked to hear this news. I will be pulling off my data as soon as I can and loading it into ancestry.com. GENI will lose many customers because no one wants to be forced guying a service they did not ask for. Had I known this at the outset...I would never have created the family tree on GENI in the first place.

  Donna - You have entered a new area when you write "GENI is now limiting the size of our family tree to 4 levels". I didn't understand from your comment how that is related to this thread. Perhaps you should start a new thread. Incidentally, I've seen no indication that "GENI is now limiting the size of our family tree to 4 levels". Our family has more than 4 levels and all these levels seem to be available in Geni.

  Joe...my apologies if I mis-informed anyone or went off topic, but I felt it was relevant to the thread. My experience has been that I can no longer add any more levels to my family tree without getting those darn pop-ups.The pop-ups ALSO come up whenever I try to send a birthday greeting....so I did some investigating and learned that Geni now has a BASIC membership (free) and limited, and a Geni Pro membership that is $4.95 a month and an even more advanced membership (Geni Plus) that is $3.95 a month. That is how I derived the limitation of the 5 levels of family and no greetings being available. I had developed the 5 levels prior to Sept 13th...and after that time, I have been unable to add any more history. So what I was stating was my experience. I have found countless threads that refer to the birthday greeting going away...and since learned it is now no longer a part of the BASIC membership....as it has limitations, where the Geni Pro and Plus do not.   Regards....   https://www.geni.com/account_settings/premium_account/6000000002575866391

  THANKS A WHOLE LOT FOR GENI; IT'S MOST APPRECIATED.  cAN YOU PLEASE CHECK ON WHY i CANNOT SEND A GIFT.  THE PAGE DOES NOT FULLY COME UP CLEARLY TO ALLOW ME TO CLICK ON AND SEND THE GIFT.

  When I signed up, I was promised a free service. Now, I'm pressured to sign up for a paid service every time I log on. That kind of hucksterism is really off-putting. If I wanted a paid service, I'd go to one of the ones that is much better., This is, I admit, hearsay,  Friends who do much more genealogy research than I do swear by this, though. All I want to do is follow my family and be able to send birthday and anniversary greetings easily. I used to be able to. People have been asking Geni to repair this glitch for a long. Serve your members without the hard sell or lose us. Perhaps that's the point. To get rid of the people who don't pay. Annoy us enough and we'll go away. Shortsighted as that is, it wouldn't surprise me if a corporation did that. I think people who've been loyal to you deserve better.

  I am having the same problem, and now trying to rend a help ticket to let you know about this problem is also going straight to the Geni Plus upgrade page help!!! Missed out on so many birthdays

  Actually, they tried this once before, a few months ago, and got so many complaints, they rescinded it.  I was very surprised to see they just went back to charging for it again.

  I am trying to guess - did Geni think  1)  there are not enough folks left who will object so that it is "safe" now to do it?   OR 2) that for so many of the folks using Geni, this is majorly important, and Geni needs money, therefore  let's require folks  to have a paid Membership to send Birthday Greeting (believing this will bring in gobs of money to Geni that they couldn't otherwise get??)
