I recently downloaded an export of my extended family forest/Tree from Geni.com. However when I opened it in a viewer, the relationships between people were all wrong. Whole generations were juxtaposed and mismatched. I was wondering if there is any way to fix the error in the encoding of the data in GEDCOM format from Geni. Should I try again to export it and hope it comes out clean? Are there other options available to get an accurate export of a Tree created using Geni?

Michelle Lynn Porter I downloaded descendant trees for two different people today and ended up with the same type of errors. A GEDCOM viewer shows the people all mixed up. Legacy imported the individuals and wasn't able to link the families together. :-(

Job Waterreus The export does not conform to the gedcom standard.

Natalie MacLees We made some adjustments to the GEDCOM exports and they should be working correctly now.
