Bjørn P. Brox There is not pplace called Vienna, Austria - may be you mean Wien, Österreich?
Anyhow, - that is the way it shows up when both the county and the city have the same name, and is not an error.

John Fischer Well, there is a place called Vienna, Austria.. my family is from there and Google finds the place just fine. It also finds Wien, Österreich but will tag it as "Vienna, Austria" not Wien. Why do you suppose that is? Did not know about the county (that's c-o-u-n-t-y) thing, however... coincidentally, Salzburg and Denver and Wien fall into this situation so I tried Cleveland and it works as you describe. So thanks for that little tidbit.

Permanently deleted user Hi John, it's listed that way ("Vienna, Vienna, Austria"), because Vienna is one of 9 states in Austria. It''a analogous to Houston, Texas, USA.
Favoriten, one of the districts of Vienna, would be listed as Favoriten, Vienna, Austria. Hope this helps.

ROBERT CONGDON WILSON can not list the place of death as harts island ny date is 1863 and the location is correct

Stuart Bray When I enter a place name it disappears. Why is this? Example my ancestor was born in Cromarty, Scotland but died in Goulburn NSW Australia. It will not except my entry.

Jeff, Geni Curator Stuart, normally a drop down of locations will populate when you start typing in the location, which you need to select one to get it to populate the fields. Otherwise, you can expand the details and enter it manually.

Claus Møller Other problems, with the places-box:
If I write fx "Thisted Sygehus" as a place, a adress comes up - usualy correct, but when you press it, the adress-fields fill in OK, but the place name dissapear...
Also: There is a lot of place-names in Denmark, that come up, when typing, but usualy ends up with some place in USA, so we will have to type in manually - could you please contact this guy, and get the name-file they use, for places: http://www.krabsen.dk/stednavnebase/
