My husband has two profiles even though we merged them help?

Hi folks. Can you possibly merge Ray Velez with Raymond Velez so that he shows up as one guy. The two profiles are annoying. We have both requested the merge happen but he is still showing up as two profiles. Are we doing something wrong?
