I too have this problem though it's in my Family List. Somehow, I'm still the manager of these duplicates - but I didn't add them twice.
I've looked all over the helps, Community posts, & found Nothing that helps get rid of these doubles - my kids, grandkids, etc. Some have a "similar profile" - Of Course!!! - it's the same person!
I've requested "curators" to delete these doubles & to stop adding & changing my Family data. When I do that - I get a reply "But thus far, I keep seeing these duplicates & "merge" issues - when there is no need.
Several others of My Family line are Duplicates on My Family List.
I have repeatedly requested these be removed - since Geni & the "Curators" will not let me delete these duplicates.
I've also reported many of these - only to be told, it's "already been reported" - Yet Months go by & they are still there. What's wrong with these "curators"?
IF I & other researchers had control of Our Own Lists & Profiles [i.e. to remove duplicates on the List] - I wouldn't have these duplicates nor so many merger issues!
Geni & cuators need to get with the stick, & adhear to the Genealogical Standards that the Professionals set, & explained for on line users, back in the 1980s - when I first started my research.
Well, a quick look on your https://www.geni.com/list/requested_merges list shows no tree conflicts and requested merges. I do however observe that there is a set of duplicates. Curators has not added these profiles, - and you are the manager of both sets - your sons wife has added this other set, which you have inherited because of inactivity.
Before pulling the "this is my tree" card you should read about the intention for Geni, - the world tree, https://www.geni.com/worldfamilytree/learn-more, which simply can be illustrated by filtering on users within your own family, - there is as many as 45 other users within your are sharing your close family with, which you also can ask for help from to fix the tree: https://www.geni.com/list?claimed_status=claimed&group=max_family
You should start cleaning up these duplicates your self, but the solution is not to delete them because it is both difficult, but also because people get angry and undelete the deleted profiles again because they was not added by yourself and destroys their family tree.

As far as I can see you need help from curators on merging profiles that includes distant living people and other user profiles, but you need to approve us to perform these merges by starting the merges yourself, - complete those you can, and ask curators to clean up the rest.

In fact, I did not take over my daughter-in-law's relatives, only those on my direct lineage. [Problem, My "son's Wife" knows nothing about my lines, & has never asked me about them!] 1.] The 2 pages you looked at may be mine. [Problem: one may be mine, BUT I did not put up 2 "profiles" of my own kids & grandkids!] Think about this: It was one of your own GENI "Curators" who made me - my Own > "Half- Sister" - & my husband > my "Half-sister's husband" - & my Kids > my "Nieces & Nephews." What? WHY? I want these "curators" to Stay Away from ALL my Lines. GENI should let Me add. change, or delete from my family, not them. The point is, You "Curators" are the only ones who can delete them - I am not "allowed" to - though I have done so on my Tree - but I could "Only" delete their family members, not them. This is one of the reasons I don't add any more of my family finds to Geni The other reason is, as you say:

When I joined Geini [April 30, 2009], I was Not Aware that All the Research I've been doing since the early 1980s would be able to be "revised, added to, & changed" by anyone on this site, [Problem; Every other site I'm on, I am the ONLY one who can add, change or delete data] Only 2 of my other family here. are the only ones who did the years of research like I did! The rest just "confiscated" data I put in, or what your "Curators" changed. In real Genealogy - the Truth of the Data - is what's important. Not one of My actual 7 family members would get angry - Rather, they'd be pleased to discover the true data, names [proper spellings], Dates, Places, etc. The only ones angry would be those who have no relationship, like the "curators", or folks who "think" this may be part of their family line, without really researching, OR without questioning that family member who added the data. In my 30 years of putting my lines on the net, I've had several people grab one of my family lines & add it to theirs, thinking their "distant" relative was one of that family. Every one proved not to be part of my family.
& Your "solution is to merge the profiles.." I will Never "Merge" by your "standards" because you give NO actual choice for me to actually put in the Correct data. All you "allow" is to choose one of 2 possible items to merge. [much of which is incorrect data put in by others, including "Curators"]. And Your "Merge" pages are a mess to deal with. So, I do not merge. Instead, I go to the profiles or My tree to edit errors. Most of my Problems with these "Curator" Mergers - is that they do not know which is the True data, & just pick what ever they think could be right. But they do not know which is the right data. Not only do I NOT want help from your "Curators" I want them to keep their hands OFF my lines.
By the By, I am NOT related to 45 families here! # 1. Just because someone has a "similar name & data" does Not Mean they are really part of any of my Lines. # 2. IF my Daughter in law, or Niece have their families here - i am related ONLY to them & their Kids. I am not related to their whole family! [especially those by marriage.] I can tell you exactly which of the 8 that are of my family lines & which are "curators" who have added people, changed or merged data [incorrectly], to my lines. & given over management to others, including themselves?!? The 8 of my family members on this site. 1. my sister, 2. my brother, 3.-6. [3] cousins, And then there's: 7. my nice, & 8. my daughter in law - neither of whom know or ask about said person, before posting their mistaken data. And, since Genealogists only keep track of their "Direct Ancestors & Descendants" my lines should not include all those "relatives by marriage" of my daughter in law or my niece.
Those who have erroneously changed data of my family & are Not part of my family are: Jay Isaac Soriano, ? Keller, Nora Marvullo, John Dale Kessel, Jonathan Scot Krengel, John Scott Wills, Dan Cornett I presume these are your "Curators"? Each of these decided to do a "Merge" between 2 listings only 1 that I may have put in, & have made other family members "managers" when in fact, their info was not correct. SO, these folks have transferred My nonna - whom no one else ever met or knows anything about - & that I put all the data & photo on this site - switched to be managed - by a daughter in law, or a niece? That is absurd. Otherwise, how to you explain that one is still up that I reported: 121-140 - Under "My name"? Why would I add a second one of my own husband, & his bother as ""your husband' first cousin"??? - I DID NOT DO THIS. - Must have been yet another "Curator" I asked that these mistakes be deleted, back [on 15 Sept 2017 & again on 25 Mat 2018] since I am not "allowed" to delete persons. Yet they are Still HERE ?!? WHY? There is NO reason to merge a real person - with a Fake person's profile.
Well, statements like "Added by: Donella (HAYWOOD) VIGNOLINI on May 24, 2009" tells me who added the profiles of your children. She might have started the tree by importing a GEDCOM. Take also a look on the name of the manager: YOU!
You have two choices for them: Delete or merge them. In any case YOU have to take the initiative and not just sitting there waiting for some magic to happen. Open tree view and select resolve duplicate on your self as an example (currently Flash tree only)
To be able to delete them you have to start with the terminal nodes, i.e your grandchildren. It is probably easiest to delete in tree view if you are using the flash version of the tree, - clicking on the x in the upper right corner of the node.
The easiest and fastes cleanup is however to ask a curator like me to do the cleanup, but I need your approval since it involves user profiles.
