Improve the relationship calculator

I have written  about this before and you might not consider this to be a bug? So please tell me what you think about the funny relationships I mention below.

 

(1)  Anders Gate is my wife's "8th great uncle": http://www.geni.com/people/Anders-Gathe/6000000006590150997.

(2)  Hs son Lars Gathenhielm is my wife's "second cousin 8 times removed's 1st husband": http://www.geni.com/people/Lars-Gathenhielm/2206993.

(3)  And Ingela Olofsdotter, the wife of Lars Gathenhielm is my wife's "6th great grandmother's husband's aunt": http://www.geni.com/people/Ingela-Olofsdotter-Hammar/2209046.

Now, all relationships are correct since there are different routes to reach the profiles above. Therefore you might not consider this to be a bug. (?)

Please explain for me how I can make Lars a first cousin (so many times removed) and Ingela the wife of a first cousin ( so many times removed).

  Your examples are not so bad. I have several cousins discribed as "son of wife´s brother´s father´s wife." Geni should really give priority to blood relative lines. Of cource if a inlaw line is very much shorter, it coud be better.

  Geni has no interest of fixing this serious problem of relationship calculator.

  There should be a way to change routes in the relationship calculator.
  Geni should consider adding a 'change route' button, or some way to re-map a relation.  When browsing up a tree through ancestors, occasionally the mother or father of a person will show with a different route instead of an ancestral grandmother or grandfather.
  For example, my 5th great grandfather Elisha Dodson:

  when clicking on his father, my 6th great grandfather:
  Reverend Thomas Jesse Dodson
  https://www.geni.com/people/Reverend-Thomas-Dodson-Sr/6000000002379572763
  instead shows as my "third cousin five times removed's wife's second great uncle's wife's grandfather".
  There was a time when this same profile showed up as "6th great grandfather", but when I found another connection through my mother, the relationship calculator changed the path and I cannot get it to change back.
  I have also found relationships to other distant cousins to change paths, and there's no way to choose paths.

  Please, Geni, find a way to enable us to see different relationship paths between individuals.  The Relationship Calculator is one of the selling points of Geni, for individuals connected to the "World Tree".  For one thing, it is more valuable than the automated "family newsletter", which usually contains incorrect information.
