Using Google Chrome & having trouble with geni features

I am using Google Chrome browser  Version 37.0.2062.124 m with Windows XP.  I am unable to edit entries on my tree or on profiles, and am also unable to access the tabs on a profile.  When I go to the home page for my tree it shows "Downloading Stories" but is unable to complete the activity, so the home page is inaccessible.  I tried Internet Explorer and it worked after I allowed it to use pop-ups, but I also got a message that a sites's security certificate was not valid.  I don't know what this means, but I don't want to switch back to Internet Explorer because the version for Windows XP is outdated.
