Eric, I've run into this problem on GoodReads, where I use Facebook to Login. The problem was the browser setting to "Allow third party cookies" was disabled, which I think several browsers are starting to do by default. Since I prefer to prevent third party cookies, what I did was add in an exception for *.facebook.com and *.google.com (sites that provide third party authentication). If that doesn't work, try to delete the cookies for Geni.com and re-authenticate. Let me know if that doesn't work out and I'll send you a private message to get you back into your tree.
I searched for your name and found two accounts, - the old one was last active in 2012 and you should try this first (from the FAQ)
If that does not help or you don't get any response in a couple of days you can come back to us and we can solve it the way you suggested, but to confirm that you are the same person as the other account we have to ask you to add some matching details to your new account only Geni staff, close family and curators like me and Jeff can see - for example the birth date and close family members.
