Relationship Calculation issues.

The relationship reports differently (wrong) on the profile after selecting "How are your related?" and inside the listing of "Blood Relatives" as selected from the person's profile under "Statistics."

In numerous situations (one shown in attachments) the relationship differs.

Example:

"Feibelmann 1 Löb is your wife's first cousin twice removed's husband's second great grandfather" on the "how are you related?" version and

"Feibelmann's fifth great granddaughter" which is correct on the listing of Blood Relatives.

  Jeff, the relationship paths are often cached to increase performance, which is not always the shortest path.  You can refresh the path by clicking the little refresh icon next to the relationship (Curators should have this refresh icon fairly quickly, where it takes a little longer for it to show up for normal users, since the task of calculating relationships is an computationally expensive one).  This doesn't address why the two images you present are different - I expect they pull from different methods calculation, but I figured I'd mention the ability to refresh the path.  I've refreshed it between you and Feibelmann and it now reflects the direct ancestry.

  It is still a problem for many profiles, even after a refresh. Some do correct, others do not. For example, I refreshed Freda's profile and still did not get the correct relationship (see attached). And in fact, after two refreshes of the path, the issue is still the same. 3rd cousin 3x removed in this case is correct, but this is not on the profile page version.

  Any other ideas?

  Here's another example after a refresh. Bret Levi is a cousin 7th cousin 1x removed, yet on the profile, the path is incorrect.

  Here's yet another one that calculates wrong, even after a refresh. 7th cousin is correct from Frank Mayer. Seems as though cousin marriages are not accounted for on the relationship path algorithm used on the profile to calculate the relationship. Abraham Salomon Schweitzer is the MRCA which is apparently calculated correctly in the relatives listing.

  My relationships arent' showing at all, even for my parents and grandparents! What's going on?

  Diane, I'm not seeing any problems with your relationship paths between yourself and your parents or grandparents.  Make sure you don't have the pin set for someone else.

  I see pins when I access Geni on my ipad, but not using google chrime, mozilla firefox, safari, or microsoft explorer. please explain

  If you look to the right of the path desccription and below the actions button, you'll see a green push-pin.  In the picture, the pin is not depressed, which indicates he is the focus of the path.  If this pin is slanted, then the focus is set to another profile.  Make sure that pin is not depressed.  If you click on your parents, the path to them should list them as your parents.  It does for me when I set your profile as the focus, as well as when I change it to your grandparents - it accurately reflects the relationship.

  thanks, I'm familiar with what they look like, I've been using Geni for years. The issue is, mine have disappeared.

  I can't explain why you would not be able to see it, since I've not heard anyone else report this and it appears to be working fine.  I guess the important thing is that the first person in the chain says "You".   If it doesn't, you can probably toggle it by clicking this: https://www.geni.com/profile/toggle_anchor_rel/ 

  But if the pin is not working on your computer, that may be an indication of a larger problem, which may be the reason you're not seeing the path.  All I can say is that it is working fine from here and it looks like something specific to your computer.  The style sheet for the pin is located at https://geni1-mhcache-com-myheritage.netdna-ssl.com/assets/  as are many other javascript and page elements that Geni requires, so maybe your home or business is doing some form of filtering or blocking.
