impossible to enter dates

each time I enter dates like this MM/DD/YYYY it tell's me tha the date is invalide

  It may be depending on your localization settings.  http://www.geni.com/account_settings/localization

  If you're format is set to DD/MM/YYYY and you specified a date in MM/DD/YYYY that doesn't conform, it's going to say it's invalid.  Geni won't switch formats or "auto-detect" that you're changing methods.  Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with a MM/DD/YYYY structure - I use it all the time.
