Experiece showed that when merging nearly indentical profiles Geni may or maynot conserve the one which has more precise data.
Before merge the user is asked to agree it by comparing both profiles. Does a rule exist if the profile shown on the left or on the right hand will override the other? Or another rule?

I can recall the exact process, but I think it goes something like.
1) MP
2) Most managers
3) Most information
4) Oldest
Do know that no information is lost in a merge and that the best information can be set in the data conflict resolution of the profile, which is accessible from the action menu.
What I tend to do if I think it may choose the profile with less precise data as primary, I'll open up the profile in a new tab, after merge, I do the conflict resolution and choose the best data.
