When I ask for the relationship, several of mine diverts through a grandmother, wives and other relatives when there is a direct link in my father's line. As such Grandparents are showing up as cousins twelve times removed, or as an aunt twice removed. Why is this? Other trees have verified the matches so I'm unsure why it doesn't show the more direct line when more than one connection exists.

Jeff, Geni Curator Geni caches paths to reduce the overhead of calculation. Usually there is a refresh icon you can click to have it recalculate or you can have a curator refresh it.
