get a hit, 

select it and get your ad for "pro" with nothing else in functionality.  

 

I honestly don't know why I joined since I can do as much or more than this without logging in.  All joining has done is subject me to your friggin add

  You can do just about everything but search outside your tree and view matches with other branches on Geni (tree matches).  http://help.geni.com/entries/61378330-What-are-the-benefits-of-a-Geni-Pro-membership-  Do know that public profiles are index by Google.
