What profile do you need unmerged? Curators have this ability.
Hi Jeff,
This is what I received that caused so many mistakes:
We've found a duplicate for a profile you manage:
Ebbe Skjalmsøn Hvide.
View the two profiles to verify that they are the same:

PLEASE remove # 6000000003865794618 it. It's so full of errors.
Thank you
Karin, if they are the same person, then we want to merge them and should correct the profile or errors. These look like valid merges. A single unified tree is the goal of Geni. If there is a dispute over data or relationships, I'd contact the curator or start a discussion and present the evidence.
Here is more information on the goals of Geni and why we remove duplication. https://www.geni.com/worldfamilytree/learn-more
Before this unwanted merger, I was able to create a list with my ancestors. Now because of it, I can't. And I don't have 5000 ancestors at it states.
What good would it do me to contact the managers of the mergers. They do not want to remove their info.
I would think Geni would benefit from people wanting to use the program, and not force something unwanted on to their users.
Right now I feel I have wasted so much time entering my ancestors and I can't even use it for anything. Can't print a list of my ancestors and can only print part of the tree that doesn't even include some of the dates. I am so disappointed. Thought I had finally found something useable.
Geni is a collaborative shared tree. I'm sorry if that was not what you were looking for. We hope to remove all duplication so you can focus on finding new data, adding sources, etc and not duplicating work others have already done.
For printing your ancestors, I suggest going to the action menu on your profile and selecting "Ancestor Report".
The number 5000 is basic user cap, so you could have more - though the term may be used broadly.
Not sure if you got my email, so I'll respond this way too.
Thank you for reminding me of the Action menu, Problem is though. when I print the Ancestor report there are way too many duplicates because of the merges and some of the entries are in a different alphabet ( Icelandic maybe) and some are in French - so everything is so messed up.
Profiles support multiple languages, so if you know the English version, you can enter it. French names should be almost identical to an English variant. Merges should reduce duplicates. If there are duplicates, then the merging is not completed. You can complete it or ask curatorsnor other members to help. Note you may also see duplicates due to pedigree collapse, which is very common.
How do I ask a curator to remove the duplicates?
I have been trying to go through my tree but it's no so big that it is so confusing and hard to see what's what.
Not sure what you mean by "Note you may also see duplicates due to pedigree collapse, which is very common."
