A relative mistakenly created a "Ron Cossen" next to my father "Ronald Louis Cossen", who now appears as his ex-husband (see below). Neither the creator nor the administrator can remove Ron Cossen. Can a curator do this for us please?

Ethel Humphreys My sister is down as my mother, her husands as my father cannot add anything till this fixed. Geni jump out of the bottle and help me Ethel Humphreys

Marla ann anderson my tree is so messed up and i can not fix it i would like to start over

Jeff, Geni Curator Andrew, you should be good now - father merged.
Ethel, I've made Norah your sister.
Marla, I need more information to help you. Starting over would not likely help since your current tree would get merged into your new tree. Your current tree can't be fully deleted since it's part of the world tree, so we just need to fix it.

John Edward Helldorfer Jeff,
I found a box the is entitled "statistics" and was curious about when it said I had an additional 8,000 plus relatives to link to my tree. Since I am having trouble verifying a (very) few relatives, I clicked on it to see what it had found.
I did not realize that it would add them all to my tree automatically and that once added, I would not be able to selectively delete the ones I don't want. The message said that I couldn't delete them because "You cannot delete this person. The manager of this profile does not allow it to be edited."
Surely there must be a way of deleting unwanted information without having to start all over again.

Jeff, Geni Curator John, statistics don't work the way you describe. It doesn't add relatives - it just displays those that are already connected. It takes you to the List table that just orders them.
So you didn't do anything by clicking the statistics but list what is there. As for the unwanted information - it depends. Geni is a shared collaborative world tree. We merge duplicates into a single branch, tree. If the person is in the correct place within the tree, then no - you shouldn't delete them, particularly if they're a Geni user as it's their tree as well. The idea of "my tree" is a false one on Geni. We do want an accurate tree though, so if someone is listed incorrectly, we want to put them in the correct place on the tree. Such as the other problems described in this thread - we fixed something that was incorrect, not removed something because it was unwanted.

Be aware that part of the terms of use for using Geni states that you agree that you will not delete Content in the Shared Family Tree except to correct inaccurate or offensive data.

John Edward Helldorfer Jeff,
Thank you for your prompt response. I don't know that the information is incorrect, but it is overwhelming. And if I can't pare down the overload to where it is manageable for me, then I am going to have to consider other options.
I don't mind having my information shared, but having no ability to pick and choose just how far afield the information goes by adding inlaws and distant cousins and others going back 5-8 generations makes it unusable to me.

John Edward Helldorfer Jeff,
Problem solved! A pop up happened that talked about a "preferences" button. I found it and was able to limit the ancestry to direct only and can go back 12 generations.
This is the solution for others with my "problem". Happiness again... now I don't need to start over on another site to have a usable tree.

Jeff, Geni Curator John, right - the preferences can be used to limit how many generations of ancestors or descendants are displayed at once on the tree. And as you pointed out, you can select to only show direct ancestors.
Also, if you look to the bottom right of the tree, there is an option for a 5 generation horizontal view. This can also be helpful if you're trying to focus on a more direct line.

Michelle Adair Nelson I found a Sir William Walter Burton Burton (b 1368 - 1430) listed in more than one place. I tried to merge the two but found that wouldn't work. I then tried to move his children under the one in the main line (under Sir William and Nancy Cranton), hoping this would at least move the line over, but now we have duplicates of everyone!

Neil Johnston Rouse, II I need to delete or move an entire line which was somehow attached to the wrong person. The problem is that John Jay Cook(e) and Thankful Tripp are somehow attached to Sarah Clark. These lines belong to Mary (Poly) Rouse (Cook). This is even more frustrating as I can not import information about Sarah Clark's line because of changes it would make to other apparently linked members lines. Also, I am really getting sick of the problems caused by the inclusion of Tomaso Savoy in my line even though it is probably correct. Someone actually said they would have the French government arrest those of us who include Tomaso, although LDS sources tend to include him. The material line is not correct and should probably be Katherine Von Hapsburg, or unknown. Just too much drama with that whole thing with Savoy trolls pretty much bullying anyone that has the (probably partially incorrect) line attached to their pedigree. What I would like to do is un-attach my tree from the 'collective' long enough to make changes without hurting anyone else's charts.
