A family member's exwife still appears with reminders of wedding anniversary. (even though geni knows she is an exwife).I would like to stop these but edit option does not appear.

  Sandra, can you link to the profile or say what person you're talking about?  I'll take a look.  Geni is not suppose to send notifications if the relationship is defined as an ex-spouse.

  Well, you WILL get notification if you have asked for it by following the profiles, something you automatically do for profiles you have added yourself.
  There is a follow/unfollow option at the to right of each profile.
