I wrote to you 2 years ago and havent had a reply. My immediate family and I are not deceased. Can you tell me how you allow false information like this on your site?

  Hello Carl, I've set those profiles to living, which will now make them private.  It will take a week or two for the cached results to be purged from search engines.  My apologies that we didn't see your post a couple years ago.

  We can connect you into that tree to give you some control over those profiles within the family group.  Also, there is another tree that looks similar, created by a Lara Dunlea (matches to the Dara Dunlea profile) and the mother's name is slightly different (Riona).  If they are the same family, we could merge them so, again, your family would have management ability over them.

  How did this happen - 'Martin Purcell' is the 'tree manager'. How is he given the right to list people as 'deceased' on a public website?

  The content is user supplied, so unless Geni hears differently, we allow the users to define the details of their family members.  What I think happened is that at one point we allowed a file upload of a family tree, what is called a GEDCOM.  Families tend to share these local databases and it looks like your family was in this one based on the account creation and the timestamp of the profiles.  That file must have had you as deceased, or maybe undefined and it defaulted as deceased when exported.  At the point in time when this was uploaded, those profiles were probably private, even though they were deceased, but several years ago the privacy model changed that made deceased profiles public to better match the standards of the parent company MyHeritage.

  I'll merge you into that tree and please have a look and update it.  Your cousins, aunts / uncles are also listed as deceased.  If they are living, it will set them as private.

  This person is not deceased.  I know this personally because he is currently working in the same organization that I work.  Please correct this error immediately.

  I have contacted the listed manager of this profile and received no response.  This manager should not be allowed to make false claims about a person on this public website.
