I am utterly fed up with being blocked from accessing anything in search results by the Geni Pro paywall.
Pretty much all of the content on this site is user-contributed. None of it is authored by the corporation. But not only are the users uncompensated for their labors, the corporation expects the users to pay for unfettered access to what they have built.
The fact this corporation is based in tax-haven Utah, and offers no form of direct customer service to its "11 million users," affords it the benefit of no doubt. This is inexcusable greed and I'm done. As long as the paywall remains up, I will not contribute, and if it is not changed soon, I will delete my considerable contributions along with my account, and urge everyone else I know to do the same.

Frode Evensen No need for strike. I think the cost of a Geni subscription is well worth the money. If there hadn’t been a paywall then there would have been advertising. The users are not compensated for their labor, because they don’t work for Geni. Geni works for us, helping us to collaborate ancestry. And for that we have to pay them, it’s not free to run a website!
