Most users don't attach sources. I don't like this. Without sources, information can be unreliable and/or inaccurate.
I have done quite a bit of research on a few individuals and spent a lot of time transcribing--and, occasionally, translating--church records so that I can attach documents and sources to back up the research. How can I "lock" certain profiles so that any edits require my approval?
You can request a curator lock a profile or specific fields on a profile. They can also make the profile the master profile. This helps us preserve the quality. Overall though, Geni is a shared collaborative tree, so trying to lock out other users is often counter-productive to this site's design and function.

As Jeff said, you can ask a Curator to lock the profile or make it a Master Profile.
For each profile that you would like locked, click in the address bar of the profile to highlight the whole address, then hold down the Ctrl/Command key and tap C to copy the address into the clipboard.
Then go to https://www.geni.com/discussions/192543 then click on the highest number there. At the bottom of that page you'll find a text box. Click in there and ask for help, then hold down the Ctrl/Command key and tap V to paste the address of your profile into that box.
Then click Post Reply, and a curator will investigate the profile and may choose to make it a Master Profile, so that others can't change it.

If a profile is supplied with documentation / sources it will reduce the chance for getting unwanted changes a lot.
It does not help if only you know that the profiles is well researched if the profile itself does not show that.
It would not qualify to get marked as a Master Profile and eventually locked either. Just a name and some dates is simply just not enough.
