Earlier, I have been able to view and edit fourth cousins and their spouses, but now, I have suddenly discovered that their spouses are shown as "private".
I am wondering if the change is intended or if it is an error.
Earlier, I have been able to view and edit fourth cousins and their spouses, but now, I have suddenly discovered that their spouses are shown as "private".
I am wondering if the change is intended or if it is an error.
Example: I can view and edit this profile, but not the partner:

I have now found another peculiarity: The following profile is my fourth cousin, and is visible:
https://www.geni.com/people/H/6000000001688624561
His sister is not visible, although the relationship and profile manager is the same:
https://www.geni.com/people/private/6000000001688775287
Clearly, this must be a bug.
Now, both profiles have become "private". I have now also tried to change the account settings of my family group to third cousins and back again to fourth cousins. This did not help.
I am a Pro customer. Do I have to submit a ticket if I want someone to look into this?
People marked as living is always private profiles, and if outside your family group (4th cousin or closer and inlaws out to 1st cousins) you don't have access unless a manager or extended family group of a manager. Being Pro does not help and there is nothing in the revisions log on the profile that tells that something have changed.
The manager of those profiles was an abandoned account and we got an extra manager when reporting it as an abandoned account, so you can invite this person to your family group if you really want full access.
My point is that the profiles mentioned are 4th cousins (or spouses) and should be INSIDE my family group, but I do not have access to them.
I now notice that the error seems to be corrected, and that I can now view or edit all the profiles mentioned. I don't know if the error has corrected itself, or if it is because someone has been working on it.
The error was because your tree is so dense that your maximum family range includes more than 5,000 profiles, and for performance reasons the code stopped counting at 5,000. Geni have increased the limit now.
Thank you for helping to solve the problem!
