I accidentally linked many sons and daughters of +Jose Rabaria Romulo under Jose Romulo (their brother). How to move them up the ladder? If I delete Jose Romulo, all profiles linked to him will be disconnected and there are many of them.

Move them to correct place. By this you recreate an extra relationship and then you can safely remove the incorrect relation link. As you said you don't want to disconnect all those profiles. You only want to disconnect the incorrect relationship links.
