No Connections To Anyone

Hi guys,

 

I set up a profile and filled in all the details including 12 out of my 16 great great grandparents. Alas, I still haven't had any connections to anyone elses trees and when I go onto a famous person's profile it says no connections found.

 

The video I watched about Geni.com said that everyone is connected to everyone and that it will be shown in Yellow on each persons profile but it doesn't seem to be working for me. Do I need to fill in 16 out of 16 great great parents for it to work or am I missing something here? (need to hit a button or pay for Pro to see this info etc?)

  it’s highly unlikely that you won’t connect to the Tree pretty soon, but it differs for different lines and different people.  

  you won’t be connected to famous prople till you are connected to the World Tree.

  My own method of working in Geni is to not enter any profiles before checking to see if they are on Geni yet.

  you don’t need a Pro subscription for that; you can Google.

  and then, if the profiles are outside of your family group and you can’t merge of connect them, if you go to the Discussion Forum, there are pinned threads at the top of the page where you can ask for curator help.

  i got hooked, and have spent quite some time working on attaching you to the Tree.  it has taken much longer than it usually does; what’s going on is that almost all of your ancestors in the few generations nearest you are from a relatively small piece of the planet, that being Yorkshire.  So I didn’t hit anyone in the Tree until I hit a line that apparently went someplace else.

  unless I got the wrong person with your name.  in which case you are not, alas, attached to the Tree!

  There are more lines which can get worked on, but at the moment if you go looking for celebrities you should be able to discover a connection.
