I live in the US and just discovered someone in Israel with whom I probably share some common ancestors. He suggested that I send him a link to my profile and tree so he can compare our trees. I cannot figure out how to do this. Can you tell me what steps to take to share a profile and tree with this person. I am a Geni Basic member only. I am not sure what level of member he is.

In tree view click on the tree menu to center the tree on your profile
In the family menu choose share your tree
copy the link to your tree and sent that to him.
Job, I tried tho follow your instructions but had problems. First, the preview screen came up blank no matter how I tried to conjure it. I did not see any box or command that allowed me to copy the link to my tree. How do I do those functions?

You should copy the link from the share your tree screen.
What do you mean by "copy the link to my tree"?
You should mail him that link to your tree and also the address of your Geni profile.
The address you can copy from your browser address bar at the top of the screen when you are on your profile page.
This is very frustrating. Two questions:
1) The preview /reconfigure my tree screen is blank. I have tried different things to pull up the tree on that screen but nothing works. If the page is blank on the screen, does that mean that the link containing the tree will also be blank?
2) OK, I went to the shore your tree section of the family share menu page. I copied the link. But then there is nothing on that page that lets me send it to him. Since he is a GENI PRo member (but I am not), how do I send him the link to the tree.

He contacted you by mail, so sent hem a reply with the address of the tree you copied and also with the address of your profile. If you got the mail via Geni you can go to the mail via this link: https://www.geni.com/threads
You can copy an address by putting the cursor in the address field then press control-a (hold the control key and press the a then release both keys) to select the field value, then press control-c to copy the field. Go to reply mail and paste the address by pressing control-v
