I have a developed tree, with no duplicates which my dad has managed to export as a GEDCOM file, but despite an excellent connection, this hang still occurs. I tried different browsers. There are a number of reports of this problem on here and yet there is no alternative download option to try. Surely some button to check the connection is still active? I notice that another user tried for three days to no avail.

To clarify, are you trying to import or export a GEDCOM file?
If export, you can see a list of your most recent GEDCOM export requests in your GEDCOM dashboard: https://www.geni.com/gedcom . Are you unable to download the latest file?
If you are trying to re-import the GEDCOM file, note the GEDCOM importer is only intended for importing new profiles not yet on Geni to reduce the number of duplicates.
