This question is close to, but also slightly different from related posts I've found here, so here I go:
Several years ago, I started up with Geni, but of some forgotten reason I switched to My Heritage. I used to believe that the latter had somehow taken over Geni's database, or something. I've lived quite happily ever since, sort of.
Then I found I should check something in Geni, and found they seemed to be operating separately. So now I wonder: are my Geni datas transferable to My Heritage, or the other way around? As I have been using My Heritage for quite some time, I would like to continue there.
So, please? Any suggestions?

Charles F. Bruder, IV A related question. I want to upload my Geni family tree to My Heritage. I've created an extensive tree in Geni and want to have access to it on My Heritage as well.
HELP!

Job Waterreus You can do a GEDCOM export from any Geni profile you added to Geni. It is possible to upload a GEDCOM to MyHeritage, but any profile that is already on MyHeritage will be duplicated.
You might be able to do a GEDCOM download from MyHeritage as well and use a GEDCOM utility locally to merge the two GEDCOM's and remove the duplicates and upload that to replace what is already on MyHeritage, but I would not advice it, unless you are very familiar with handling of GEDCOM files.
The other possibility is getting your data from MyHeritage to Geni. For this you could use the SmartMatches on Geni by adding those as sources to Geni and so expand your tree on Geni. On Geni you can also use SmartCopy (see https://www.geni.com/projects/SmartCopy/18783) to copy over data from MyHeritage to Geni.
Please do NOT try to import a GEDCOM from MyHeritage to Geni. That would create so many duplicates that is much less work to use SmartMatches and SmartCopy
Also please keep in mind that the platforms are very different. On MyHeritage you have your own tree, but on Geni there is one World Tree shared by all users.

Ole Kvaal Thanks a lot, Job. Yes, I think this answered my main question and solved my most of my problems. :-)
