We started our family tree many years ago and it has become out of date. How do I see who is the administrator of the tree? I think it was my great aunt and she has since passed away. How can I make myself the administrator, or at least be able to do whatever edits are necessary? Also, I have a couple of cousins who want to make it a project to update the tree. How do I get them access to make whatever updates are needed? How does that all work?

Hi Jeff, we're sorry to hear about the passing of your great aunt. Please report her account as Deceased by clicking on the Actions button on her profile page and select "Report." In the dropdown, choose "Deceased" and leave a comment asking to be made manager of the profiles she managed. Since the tree is shared, you can already make updates to the tree yourself. Note there may be some cases where you might not have permission to edit a profile, such as when a relative has claimed their account with their email address.
If your cousins would like to also collaborate in the tree, then you can invite them to join by adding their email address to their profile. If you do not see a field to add their email address, then it is possible they have already claimed their account and can log in themselves with their email address. If they need assistance accessing their account, then they can email us directly at subscriptions@geni.com .
