I just upgraded to Geni Pro (~100USD) , because I saw there were coincidental trees in my family, my tree and one managed by a cousin, and when I tried to merge Geni pointed me to upgrade to Pro. So I did, I was billed by MyHeritage US:
But when I try to merge the trees, it now points me another billing requirement (another ~100USD), this time on the Heritage site, to merge the trees.
I don't get this...it's the same company, even if it's two databases, but I already paid to merge my trees, and now a "second level" billing shows up...
This looks like a scam...is it how this company operates ?
Thank you

Geni Support Team Hi Pedro, while Geni is a part of the MyHeritage family, our two websites continue to operate separately.
A Geni Pro subscription gives you access to premium features on Geni. This includes merging Tree Matches, enhanced search, relationship path diagrams, and more. You can see our FAQ for a list of Geni Pro features here: https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/229706367-What-are-the-benefits-of-a-Geni-Pro-membership
If you are seeing an offer to upgrade to MyHeritage, then it is likely you are trying to view a Record Match or Smart Match. These are provided in partnership with MyHeritage and require a separate MyHeritage data subscription. Note this does not merge Geni and MyHeritage trees. It allows Geni users to confirm historical records and family trees in MyHeritage's database to Geni profiles. Historical records have high costs associated with them such as royalties and digitization resources that prevent us from including them in our existing Geni Pro subscriptions.
If you have further questions about your Geni Pro subscription, please email us directly at subscriptions@geni.com .

Pedro Miguel Severino de Sousa Lucas dos Santos Disagree. When using Smart Match, you first require that the customer upgrades the plan, and you show a cost. I upgrade. Then, when again trying to use a Smart Match, you now require that the customer upgrades the plan again, same company, same billing, on the basis that there are two different databases.
Why doesn't the entire cost show up when matching.
It is deceptive, to say the least.
What guarantees do I have that after paying for the 2nd time, there won't be a 3rd extra payment required.
No, I'm out. -
Geni Support Team Hi Pedro, a MyHeritage data subscription is required to confirm a Smart Match. If you have a MyHeritage data subscription, then all you need to do is make sure you are also logged into your MyHeritage account when you want to confirm a Smart Match to Geni.
It sounds like you are confusing Tree Matches and Smart Matches. Tree Matches are matching profiles on Geni and require a Geni Pro subscription. Geni Pro provides access to premium features only on Geni, including enhanced search, relationship path diagrams, and unlimited media storage.
Smart Matches are matching family trees in MyHeritage's database and require a separate MyHeritage data subscription. Record Matches, which are matching historical records, are also included in the MyHeritage data subscription.
We may be owned by the same parent company, but our websites operate separately and focus on very different things.
It is not required to upgrade to use Geni. If you do not want to pay for a subscription, then you can continue to use Geni's free features, which allow you to add unlimited people to the tree and collaborate with others. If you have further questions about your Geni Pro subscription, you can email us at subscriptions@geni.com .
