My Strickland line on Geni does not include my great grandfather Ebenezer Brown Strickland, father of Huldah Strickland Coile, so Geni lists my paternal ancestors as "in-laws." How to repair this? Judith Donohoe

Geni Support Team Hi Judith, can you clarify which profile you are viewing? When we looked at your tree, we see Ebenezer Brown Strickland listed as your great-grandfather https://www.geni.com/people/Ebenezer-Strickland/6000000101082162833

Judith Donohoe Yes, I placed his name there. He's missing in the 'trail' of Stricklands (his father was Nathaniel Strickland) when I look at connections - ex: "15 relatives between my Dad (A.O. Coile) and --" whoever I'm checking on. Ebenezer's mother Melita Jane Brown is listed as his wife's sister when she is actually his mother (hence his middle name of Brown) and this makes my direct Strickland line seem to be "in-laws". Thanks for replying!

Geni Support Team From your description, it sounds like you may be looking at duplicate profiles.
Looking at your tree, it seems you may have some people added to the wrong branches. For example, your great grandfather Ebenezer Brown Strickland is shown as the son of Ebenezer Brown Strickland and Melita Jane Brown Strickland. Nathan Strickland appears as the father of that Ebenezer. Another Nathan Strickland is appearing as the husband of another Melita Jane Brown, who shows as the sister of Nancy Elizabeth Parton. There is also a duplicate Nancy Elizabeth Parton appearing as the wife of Huldah Strickland (who appears as both a sister and daughter of Ebenezer).
Can you clarify the correct relationships so we can help you fix your tree?

Judith Donohoe Yes, thanks! The duplications come from my multiple attempts to make corrections, then failing to successfully delete the incorrect ones. Nathaniel Strickland and Melita Jane Brown Strickland were indeed the parents of Ebenezer Brown Strickland whose spouse was Nancy Elizabeth "Louizie" Parton, both of whom died a few months apart in 1895 in High Shoals Georgia leaving several orphans, one of which was my paternal grandmother Huldah Strickland Coile, wife of William Benjamin Coile. Obviously, I don't navigate the site as well as I should and have tried to do so too many times so any help straightening things out would be most welcome! Judith

Geni Support Team We fixed the relationships and merged the duplicates. Can you please double check the tree?
You may want to go through and update the About section of each profile. There may also be some data conflicts that need to be resolved.
