I have created a Geni Basic account. When I try to access a persons profile from the search bar I get a pop-up offer for a free Geni PRO trial. I then deny this offer and get sent back to the search bar with no access to a persons profile. How is this? Why am I able to access a profile with no Geni Basic account, but with a Geni Basic account I can NOT access it??
You can access only profiles you or one of your collaborators manage from the Geni search if you are a basic user.
You can access any public profile from an external search engine (like Google search) however, so this should not be a big problem (it may take some time for search engines to index a profile so you can have problems accessing very recent profiles with an external search).
If you collaborate with other users who work on the same part of the tree you can access most profiles from Geni search.

If you multiple sessions you can also use a Geni session where you do not log on to search for profiles and use the result in the other session where you are logged on to access the profile.
