Firefox 55.0.3 and Family Tree incompatibility

There appears to be a compatibility issue between the latest version of Firefox 55.0.3 (32-bit), Flash Player 26.0.0.151 (32-bit) and the family tree view on Geni.com (running on Windows 10).

Family trees are displayed but the application interface does not respond to any mouse inputs (movements or left mouse button presses). A right mouse button click shows the Flash menu that allows checking of the Flash settings, which then become unresponsive, ignoring mouse input and not closable (Firefof 55.0.2 did not have these issues). The Flash settings seem to be ok, and other websites with Flash content work without issues.

  I can help you solve your own bug report.

   

  Go to getfirefox.com and then download and install the latest version on your computer. Doing this will give you the matching 32 or 64 bit version for your computer.

  Installed the latest Firefox and Adobe Flash player. Tree is still freezing. Viewing the tree without Flash player is crap. Is this a Firefox issue or a Geni issue? Running on Windows 7 32 bit.

  I know it has been an issue with 32-bit versus 64 bit version of Firefox. Make sure that you have the 64-bit version.

  Halvor,

  You will need to upgrade to Windows 10 64 bit, or get a new browser. 64 bit is the only way to make the Flash tree work properly on Geni.

  I do not like the Windows 10 at all. Running on Win7 32 bit and not sure if my laptop will handle 64bits properly. I have tried using Microsoft Explorer, but I cannot for some reason get a new tab when linking to Myheritage. My laptop is a bit old and I will not replace this just for Geni. Maybe I will try Opera or another browser. If no luck I will leave Geni and keep my data on Myheritage only.

  Opera works perfect. Just how things should be :-) Firefox is now leaving my laptop.
