People unrelated to a profile have been "named" as manager. For example, my sister and my ex-son-in-law are listed as managers on many, many profiles of family members on both sides of the family, some going back several generations. Neither of them would have requested management of deceased members of the other's family.
Is this a bug? Also, how can it be easily and expeditiously fixed?
Geni does this automatically when managers of profiles are inactive for an excessive period of time - it transfers the profile's management to more active family members. They do this as the manager is a contact for merges or possibly answering questions. This should not affect your permissions on these profiles.
However, Jeff, Geni made two separate and unrelated people managers of profiles with whom they have no relationship. For example, my sister is now manager of my husband's family members; she was also made manager of my son-in-law's grandparents. This is not an acceptable protocol as there are literally hundreds of profiles that you've assigned management to either my sister or son-in-law. What will Geni do to correct this as going through each profile to change managers is not a practical or reasonable solution?
I'm sorry, that's not something I have knowledge of. This should not change your permissions to those profiles as they are in your family group (it's in their family group as well). It's essentially just a contact. They can relinquish that on the Actions menu via Manager Options.
I have no "Manager Options" in the Actions drop-down menu on my own profile (which was created by my nephew). Are Manager Options available only to paid memberships?
Fully claimed profiles does not have a list of managers, - you are your own manager.
Thanks! I remember now what happened. My nephew (niece's husband) created my profile but got some stuff wrong. I corrected it and must have claimed it.

I'm experiencing a similar issue where an unrelated person became a manager and there's no "x" option to remove them from being a manager. There must be a fix to this besides requesting from Geni staff to intervene and remove that individual.

There is only an X when the profile is in your family group and the other user is not within the family group of the profile. You can check who is in the family group from https://www.geni.com/account_settings/family
I found this to be just the opposite. There's an x by my name for my grandparent as a manager. However, for the unrelated manager there's no x and I'd like to remove them. Is this a bug that needs to be reported or what else?

Ben Z - family relationship rights is related to the actual profile, not to yourself. You cannot x out this person as a manager because he/she is within the family group of this profile, probably even closer than your self.
I my opinion it is rude to remove managers just because you dont know them. They might have put a lot of effort in the research of the profile.
In my case, people I never heard of have made themselves managers of profiles on which my cousin or I did all the work. I removed some of them and never heard a complaint.

I understand what you are saying, but this isn't the case here. The manager is not directly related and should therefore be able to be removed.
