my account will not open, connect,unless i give credit card info and sign up for pro.... this site advertises as free if you add four people.... is it really free? It doesn't work as such, and there is no way to get help with your account.

  That is not normal. You should be able to log in without anything like that and do most tasks on Geni. Geni does offer Pro services which, you may see if you go through Geni's Search or click on any of the "Matches".  Otherwise, you can build your tree, invite your family and not incur any cost.  Here is more info: https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/229706167-Is-Geni-free-

  Thanks so much Jeff. Here are some details on this technical issue:

  I was signed in earlier with an account, genii2genii@gmail.com, then it said no such email address, even when I asked for a new password.

   I was managing a profile, and adding people sources and able to correspond with others, talk to a mentor, etc., then all of a sudden my account did not work as of a few days ago. and I could not link to anyone or any of the profiles I was supposed to manage , like Nathaniel Condict's, which now someone else seems to have, after a manager transferred him to me. One of the members told me they could not find me in the system, yet emailed me.

  There is no real user friendly help link on the site, as I barely found this link.

  So, I had to create another account yesterday, with the same email, and it said  profile was 20% done, and even after I added 4 people, it still does not let me account function or communicate with others as before.

  How can I get my old account back or make this new one work? It would be nice to move forward, make some contributions. Thanks for your help! Lifescribe

  Angela, - there are two accounts with our name, one of them is empty, created yesterday, probably just before you posted your message. You are obviously using another email as the login for your other account.

  Log out and try to log in with another email. It is unfortunately easy to accidentally create a new account in Geni since the start page focus on that, but if you look at the upper right corner you find a tiny link for login in on an already existing account.
  
  You should also remember that it is an email address that is the login key, even if you dont have access to that email account anymore as long as you remember your Geni password. If so, remember to change the email when logged in.
