My mother-in-law, Earlene Beile is deceased with a death event in her timeline, yet today Geni sends a notice of her upcoming birthday.
The following is not correct:

Geni Support Team Hi Larry, we're sorry to hear of your family's loss. It sounds like your mother-in-law's profile may still be claimed with her email address. Please report her profile as Deceased via the Actions button, which will also stop all birthday/anniversary notifications. Once our customer service team receives the report, we can assist with unclaiming her account.

Larry Boos Thanks for your followup. As you can see we had already added a timeline event (deceased) and had no reason to believe it would take more than what we did. Ever think of making this required action a pop-up message when adding a "deceased" timeline event? Thanks again!
