I was invited to merge a person on Geni that is related to a maternal Uncle, *by marriage*, so no blood relation. Since then, EVERY single "connection" and path, is through that Uncle...even people who are blood related to me, and not the Uncle...still go through a path of the Uncle & his family. Also, known blood relations, who are in my tree and others trees, come back as "no blood relation", but also come back as "connected" ....again, via the non blood related Uncle. There is no "refresh" at the end of the path....how do I fix this?????? Help Please

Geni Support Team Hi Sherri, can you please provide the link to a specific example of a blood relative that is not appearing as a blood relative? From your description, it sounds like you may need to complete some more merges.

Sherri Cohen I submitted the requested link to show an example of a blood relative not showing as a blood relative, but instead, going through a "short path" of 25 people, via an Uncle that is only related by marriage.
That was May 4, 2021....it is now June, and I have not yet received a reply, reason or fix for that. I do not understand why EVERY single relationship, blood or not, is going through an Uncle, that is not blood related, but related by marriage.... rather then going through my direct family line....please answer....how do I get my relationships to follow a path through my own family???? THANK YOU

Geni Support Team Hi Sherri, we're sorry we did not see the links to your examples. It appears you sent them as a direct reply to the notification email instead of posting to this thread. As noted in the notification email, email replies do not update the help thread.
We were able to locate the examples you provided and can see that they were added by other users on the site. The reason you are only seeing the in-law paths through your uncle is because the blood connection between you and these profiles has not yet been added to the tree. You can remedy this by merging the duplicates together and joining these separate branches. We are happy to help you do this. We see you have added a profile for David Greendrug Wittels here https://www.geni.com/people/David-Wittels/ and this is the profile you found https://www.geni.com/6000000156734436826 people/David-Wittels/ . Can you please confirm if these profiles are the same so that we can help merge them?6000000003110099620 You also provided the examples of Rebecca Naiberg and David Feldman. It doesn't look like you have added them to the tree yet and the profiles you found do not have any parents or siblings added to them, so it's difficult to know how they connect. Can you please let us know where they belong in the tree so that we can help you connect these branches? -
Sherri Cohen Thank you for the reply. Yes, they are the same.
I will have to add Rebecca. Thanks for your help.
It is greatly appreciated.
