I downloaded the gedcom file from myHerritage. When I tried to import it it says it's getting a error reading the gedcomfile.
It's a new file, and I tried to upload it as soon as I got it.
I downloaded it again and get the same error when trying to upload to geni.
It's kind of a small file. I only have about 48,000 people in my tree.
Importing a GEDCOM to Geni will create many duplicates, so it might be better to use SmartCopy (see https://www.geni.com/projects/SmartCopy/18783) and only copy the missing information to Geni.
If you are a basic user it is much harder to find duplicates as you can only use the Geni search screen to find profiles you yourself manage or that are managed by your collaborators, so it can be very hard to find those duplicates.
If you still want to upload a GEDCOM to Geni, please first add at least one (estimated) date (birth, baptism,marriage,death,burial) to each profile, so Geni can determine the privacy setting for each record.Please do NOT use names in all caps (Geni has a setting to display them in all caps if you like that)
Also please use an external program to check your GEDCOM for inconsistencies and other problems and correct those problems before trying to upload a GEDCOM to Geni.
Also keep in mind that you can upload a GEDCOM only once without creating a duplicate for all records, so you CANNOT use it to synchronize between MH and Geni.

A GEDCOM with 48,000 people is a pretty large tree and will likely have a lot of duplicates. We'd recommend starting with a smaller GEDCOM file to reduce duplication or doing as Job suggested above and use SmartCopy to copy over small portions of your family tree.
