Jeff, Geni Curator I'm not able to reproduce that problem. Can you supply the date you're trying to enter and the area / field you're trying to add it to so that we can try to reproduce it.

Edward Woods Just joined today. I was able to enter my father's dates of birth and death now am told all dates are invalid. Tried to enter 01 10 1893, 10 10 1895, and 05 28 1924. All came back invalid -
Alan Francis MUNN Glad to hear someone else had the same problem, I was beginning to think that I was a bit doff !. Without the ability to capture exact dates of birth, death marriage etc it makes Geni useless as you will never know if you have a trues match. Hopefully they will resolve soon.

Bjørn P. Brox First of all you have an option in your account settings on how you want to enter dates. You find the account settings, as most on web sites, by clicking your own name in the upper right corner on a Geni page.
Secondly the field is validating what you input, which means that you have to hit tab or click outside the field to activate the validation before saving. That is also an extra check to confirm that the system have understood what you enters.
Since there is so many national variants on how to order a date, especially the month there is a trick to ensure that the system understand what is the month and what is the day in what you enter: Spell the month name, either full or the shortened form in your language, for example: "10 oct 1895" or "10 october 1895".
If pasting dates from another place you should also ensure that you dont include some extra whitespace which some browsers tends to help you with. -
CM Fitz Funny... Multiple persons have this issue and you can't reproduce it? As person above you posted they tried all 3 recommended date entries all receiving invalid date. I too am having the same issue. -
Jeff, Geni Curator I just tried all three dates supplied by Edward and all three worked. So, I'd say perhaps it's something with your browser - javascript blocking?
-
CM Fitz I appreciate curators offering input, but we ALL can't be blocking JavaScript? Personally, I wouldn't even know how.. -
Geoff Potter just started using this system - looking at user comments here, this system is very US - centric - don't think they understand that most of the world use day month year format!

Bjørn P. Brox Check your own account settings which you find, as with all sites with a login, by clicking your own name at the top.
