Geni is not showing the most direct path between me and my relatives. specifically, if I am already connected to a person and then, in building my tree discover a much more direct connection, the path does not update.
I am shown as being one woman's fourth cousin's husband's thrid cousin when, in fact, she is simply my great great grandmother.

Inger Weibust It seems ridiculous that the initial search is cached, somehow. As I complete my (apparently rather inbred) tree, there are quite a few people who I am more closely related to.

Jeff, Geni Curator Calculating the relationship path in a tree is a computationally expensive process. Usually there is an icon to right of the path to refresh it, but there is a time limit on how quickly you can refresh after the path was cached. If you don't see the refresh icon, you are welcome to request a curator refresh the path. Just specify the two profiles (likely yourself as one) you need them to refresh. https://www.geni.com/discussions/142108
