if yes, then link us to the earlier entry or put a symbol beside it so we wouldn't have to enter more data on the same person
It is a big database and takes time to search through. Also, if you misspell one of the profiles just a little, they won't match.
What will happen eventually is that there is a blue ball on the profile in the tree, and when you click on it you see a blue square box - you can click on it, and all the possible matches that are found for the profile will be listed. Many will be wrong - but some will be right. You can then request a merge (or, if it is to someone within your family group or a profile you manage on both sides), just merge.
