How is it that after I have put my own children and other very close relatives in the tree I find that some time later they are being managed by someone else. My own family managed by an 8th cousin many times removed. In another case my nephew being managed by someone who is not related what so ever. How could your system allow this. Frankly, privacy seems to be non existent if someone can take over in this manner.

Jeff, Geni Curator They don't have that ability. I think there is only one likely scenario The other person had a family tree on Geni that was a duplicate of your tree (perhaps inherited from a closer relative that left Geni), in which case the trees were merged (agreed by someone in your tree) and he became added as a manager on the duplicate profiles as they were merged, perhaps even the "primary manger" (based on several factors but pretty much meaningless). I would need to look at the profiles in question to get a better idea and there are too many Alan Scott profiles on Geni for me to tell which one is you.

Alan Scott You say they don't have the ability. Never the less it happened which is disturbing in view of the fact that there were a number of living people involved. Does not say much for security. I agree with you that the situation probably happened as a result of mergers but again there is the security issue when it comes to living persons. Seems to me it is too easy for someone to take over managing living people to whom they are not related.
For most of the living persons involved including my own children, I have been able to delete the manger as listed and the mangers name automatically reverted back to me .I presume a temporary fix as what is to stop it happening again. Makes me wary about adding to my Geni tree, particularly names of living people. Thought about removing my tree but then again I suppose the names of my family have now been copied into the other persons's trees and will remain there no matter what I do. Frankly I do not think Geni is a good family site for the reason it is too easy for non related members to get access to data of non related living persons.
