DNA matching - predicted relationship

It's not an idea. I am reporting a bug!

My autosomal DNA match with Barbara Hesson aka Barbara Ragucci is incorrect. Geni predict "2nd Cousin Twice Removed", whereas FTDNA Family Finder predict "5thCousin - Remote cousin". Please see the attached screenshots. GEDmatch predicts 5.1 generations distant. Your "2nd Cousin Twice Removed" is therefore way out which is why I would like to report it as a bug.

Even worse all five of Barbara's DNA matches on Geni say "2nd Cousin Twice Removed". That cannot be correct.

  I thought you might find this tip useful if you don't want details to be public. I don't know if your comment meant you wanted more privacy controls for what you originally wrote.

  It's a misfeature - for some reason a lot of different relationships come out as "2nd cousin twice removed". When I'm charitable, I think it is "the match is unlikely to be any closer than this"; it doesn't make sense any other way. I've got 5th cousins to 12th cousins all showing up as "2nd cousin twice removed".

  Comparing the 29-43cM shared DNA range in the Geni screenshot with the table of autosomal DNA relationships recently compiled by Blaine Bettinger, the actual relationship is 4th or 5th cousins. Not the "2nd cousin twice removed" shown by Geni. Geni therefore do indeed have a bug.
