I would like to have files NOT mysteriously deleted!

I got an email about someone deleting a couple profiles on my tree. I emailed them and they have not deleted them.

When I look more closely, there are 2 of my uncles entire families deleted! And I never received notice of this.

This is extremely frustrating and it should not be happening. 

I have had issues with a curator in the past merging files that were inaccurate, changing managers to the wrong people and when I try to fix it, I'm asked to join Geni. This seems very unfair and I'm not convinced it is a site that 

is going to look after my tree, my info and my requests after paying for a membership.

  If you'd like to provide a link to the profile, I can review the history to determine what might have happened.  Actions within your family group should show up in your home feed.  Also, review your notifications: https://www.geni.com/account_settings/notifications

  Well Jeff, Thanx for replying.

  I clicked on the account_settings site you suggested I go to review your notifications. First attempt, I was informed I was not authorized on that site!

  Second attempt, it shows check marks on ALL items. I was not notified of any deletions in this regard.

  The link would be 2 brothers to Elizabeth Gertrude Doyle, my mother.

  Brothers are William Stannard and Jack Stannard plus their entire families!

  While I have your attention, would you be able to review the emails between myself and Myrna H regarding merges, management of profiles, trees etc.

  My request is that I am the manager of all in my tree originally started by Linda Lelliott as I was told I would be. Also of Ashlee Dayle Doyle started in Dec 2010(she is my daughter in law and has not been on since & does not use the email address provided at the time. Also, when I asked to be made manager of my tree, Myrna reassigned to the profiles started by Ashlee to my daughter Kathryn Carroll. She is actually my sister who is never on this site. It would seem Myrna does not know how to read a tree correctly which is unfortunate if she is authorized to do merges even when not given permission to do so. I am disappointed that I have talked to others who use Geni and they have problems with merges,deletions and changes also. Other sites honor the privacy and 'locked' accounts. Please do what you can to remedy this so it can also be a valued site---even for those of us who do not pay a membership. Thankyou and have a great day! Cindy

  The profiles were deleted by your cousin Renee.  I'm not sure why your cousin on your father's side would delete a couple of your mother's siblings, but you can undelete them here:

  I'd be happy to help reconnect those components, but this would probably be better suited in a private discussion including your cousin.

  The reason you were not notified is probably because you're not a manager.  The notifications only alert the managers of a deleted profile.  You could request to be added as a manager, via the actions menu or you could create a duplicate and merge it, thus adding yourself.  Following a profile is also a good way to keep track, though I'm not sure if there is a notification on a profile deletion.

  I have no ability, as a curator, to review the private messages of users.  For most cases of the family group, management doesn't give you any special permissions aside from things like the delete notification.  When someone closes their account, they have the option to choose the manager to transfer them to or they will go to the closest active family member / community.  I don't have the ability to reassign them - it's an automated process.  You can follow all these profiles though, which should give you better visibility.

  Geni is different than many sites in that it is collaborative and the goal is one profile per person, so when duplicates are seen, they get merged into a single profile.  Sometimes this can create some conflicts, but we hope the process will end up creating the largest and most complete and documented tree available.  https://www.geni.com/worldfamilytree/learn-more
